WE wear thicker clothes in winter to protect ourselves from the elements – and we should protect our faces too.

Bitter cold and biting winds can be very damaging to our skin and so can central heating.

Less moisture in the air increases moisture loss in the skin, causing dryness, flaking and sometimes irritable, itchy patches. And don’t forget, even on bright days in midwinter we still need a cream with a high SPF to protect us from the sun’s harmful rays.

A thicker moisturiser with the correct ingredients for your skin type is a very good idea to see you through until spring.

Here SUE MOXLEY checks out the leading moisturisers to keep your skin protected.
