Get the Oscar beauty look

July 23rd, 2011 by Charlotte Soward | Print

Long, loose, flowing locks abound and for those with tresses of the shorter variety, neat and smart crops like Halle Berry or Michelle Williams proved a big hit.

This year the nominees flew the flag for natural beauty, ditching red or blackberry pouts for pink, nudes and beige – tres Spring/Summer catwalk trends. Think ‘undone’ as the key word.

Great Brits … Florence Welch and Helen Mirren

Brit singer Florence Welch opted for her vintage ethereal look, emphasising her signature red locks in a ghostly cream gown.

Helen Bonham Carter certainly rocked the ‘undone’ trend with those reckless curls, but possibly not the right end of it.

But dear Dame Helen Mirren came up trumps for the Brits, with a stunning Vivienne Westwood gown, age-defying make-up and a super sleek flattering crop.

But if pushed to choose our three favourite fillies, we have to go over to Team America.

Get the glow … with Mac’s Amber Lights

Our winners for the most stunning of the night are Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow and heavily pregnant Natalie Portman.

Here we show you how to rock their looks….

Gwyneth Paltrow

There was a mass divide in the office over Gwynnie’s look. Some said the poker straight hair was boring and her dress a bit-space age, then some thought she rocked.

St Tropez Everyday Face is perfect for her light glow. The easily absorbed moisturiser with a touch of self-tan promotes a natural, healthy looking radiance. Enriched with marine extract and Vitamin E it’s also perfect for anti-ageing.

Poker straight hair needs lots of maintenance so we’d recommend a rich nourishing oil like Moroccanoil. The argan oil blend is rich in vitamins and natural elements to fortify the hair, improve elasticity and protect against free-radicals.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett’s rust coloured eyes, nude lips and ‘undone’ locks were a HUGE hit in Sun HQ.

Take a deep rust hue and work all the way up to your eyebrows finish with lashings of mascara and eyeliner to pop the colour.

Rule the waves … with L’Oréal Professionnel tecni art Constructor

We love Mac’s Amber Lights eyeshadow to get the exact look.

Keep lips simple when wearing a bold eye colour, we think Barry M’s Vintage Rose is the perfect nude.

Natalie Portman

Yummy mummy.

Natalie’s natural pregnancy glow will only need a little enhancement with product. We’d snaffle Clarins Multi-Blush, a lightweight powder that can be applied with fingertips to add colour to eyes, lips and cheeks for a natural yet radiant result.

For lovely loose curls like Natalie’s try L’Oréal Professionnel tecni art Constructor, perfect for holding and shaping curls.

The thermo-active construction enables it to work under extreme heat, therefore fixing your hair without leaving it heavy, laden with product or sticky.

Bravo ladies!
